Chimica Fisica Atkins is a fundamental textbook on physical chemistry for undergraduates. It serves as an introduction to chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics.This book is written in both Spanish and English. The first chapter of the English edition also appears as the first chapter of the Spanish edition. The rest of the book is only available in Spanish. According to the author himself this book was written to answer the demand of undergraduate students for a Spanish textbook on physical chemistry. The aim of the book is to be "the idealt textbook" for an introductory course in physical chemistry, with main emphasis on graduate students.The book is directed towards graduate students and it describes the basic topics of the discipline. It is divided in four chapters: Thermodynamics; Statistical Mechanics; Chemical Equilibrium; and Polymer Chemistry.The first chapter is devoted to thermodynamics and it covers topics like: First Law of Thermodynamics, Enthalpy, Entropy, Chemical Potential Energy, Internal Energy, Equilibrium State and Kinetic Theory Closed Systems. The second chapter is related to statistical mechanics and it covers topics like: The Kinetic Theory of Gases, Boltzmann Law, Partition Function, Irreversible Processes, Ensemble Theory. The third chapter is mention in the book's title. It covers topics like: Chemical Equilibria Concentration Gradients, Phase Diagrams, Gibbs Free Energy Density Functional Derivatives. The last chapter is corresponding in the book's title to Polymer Chemistry. This section covers topics like: Degree of Polymerization Chain Reactions in Biomolecules.
